Prison Break – 302 – Fire / Water
Hooray, another episode of Prison Break! I cannot stress enough, how happy I am that it is set in prison again! It was great to see Sucre back in the show, and that Maricruz is ok. Very sad that they had to break up, even if it is temporary. The supposed mourning woman from the first episode, turns out to be Whistler’s girlfriend, but that could be a lie too. It is clear that she cares for him though, and wants him out of prison.
We finally find out why Whistler has a bounty on his head, as he apparently killed the Mayor’s son! Whoever kills him, or brings him in, will get an easy court hearing and should be set free. The lady who has been in contact with Lincoln regarding LJ and Sara, calls herself Susan B., but once again you can only take it with a grain of salt. There is definitely a lot to be discovered about this woman.
The water crisis set intensity and urgency to the entire episode. This was raised higher when word of Whistler’s location down in the sewers spread amongst the inmates. This lead Mahone down to the sewers where he busted the wall in and grabbed Whistler, threatening to kill him, if he wouldn’t go along with him. Michael needs Whistler alive of course, so he has to resort to associating with the big boss Lechero.
Michael needs to be of some use to Lechero though, which is where he performs a good ol MacGyverism and fixes the water system, which douses out the fury of the inmates, as well as pleasing Lechero, which ultimately saves Whistler. So now Whistler is free to roam the prison normally, but I am sure he will run into trouble still from others. The coolest thing for me though was finding out he is an Aussie! I thought he might have been Aussie or English from the few words he said in the first episode.
Now that the Whistler dilemma is out of the way, hopefully we get to see Michael perform some of his magic, and begin devising a plan to escape. It should be interesting, as he has practically no information on this prison, compared to his carefully planned and studied plan from season 1. Prison Break – 301 – Orientacíon
Prison Break is back! If you read a previous post of mine, you would know this is my favourite TV show! To make things more awesome, it has gone back to its roots. I didn’t enjoy the man hunt theme of last season, and am glad it is now set in a prison again with a break out imminent. The fact it is set in another country’s prison (Panama), ensures it will not be too similar to season 1.
The episode resumed practically where the show had ended from last season. Michael, along with Mahone, T-Bag, and Bellick have been dumped into the Panamanian prison, Sona. It opens with a brutal, muddy, and bloody duel in the rain, confined by a ring of cheering inmates, until only one combatant are left, making the survivor, the victor. Quite an opening, which really sets the tone for the new prison, and lets you know straight away that this is going to be a much harsher environment than Fox River.
I won’t go into the specifics any further, as you can read it further down from an official source. The situation Bellick is in now, is like karma at work, bringing him back down from his previous selfish sins. So far I like the new characters, and the fact even though they don’t have guards or rules anymore, the inmates have formed their own rules and legal system, even if they are very harsh. Another reason to escape other than the obvious has already arisen in the form of a mysterious man in the sewers named Whistler. I can’t wait to see what plan Michael comes up with, and there is great potential for him to collaborate with Mahone, who also has a brilliant mind. The wait for the next episode is painful, just like it always was for me with the first season! Below you can read an episode summary, followed by a link to the official, in-depth, episode recap.
Now locked up in a Panamanian prison known as Sona, Michael, T-Bag, Bellick, and Mahone try to find a way out. Much to their devastation, they soon find out that the prison has been abandoned by the authorities because of the immense threat from the vile inmates.
Michael seeks for an inmate named Whistler in the prison sewers.
As Lincoln is puzzled by Sara’s sudden disappearance, he learns that LJ has gotten into some trouble.

Prison Break
Prison break would have to be my favourite TV show at the moment. It actually got me back into watching TV again. I stopped watching TV except for a couple long time favourites, because it all seemed to be the same old thing I had seen before. I don’t remember what really captured my attention, but the premise of an intricate and intelligent plan on a grand scale to escape prison did sound cool. I also liked the visual style and various, interesting characters it advertised.
Another reason was one of the main characters, Lincoln Burrows, is played by an Aussie, Dominic Purcell. I remember him playing a cop in Heartbreak High, that got mixed up in a relationship with one of the students, Anita. (Hmmm, both shows have “break” in them – First he breaks hearts, now moving onto prisons.) I had also recently seen him as the big bad vampire in Blade Trinity. It was also hyped in Australia that Holly Valance would appear in a few episodes too, who was an Australian actress on the soap opera Neighbours, as Felicity Scully, or Flic. She also tried a singing career, but I don’t think it went too well, with the fact she was practically naked in her music video holding the selling power compared to her vocal ability.
I told my Brother about the upcoming show, and he was eagerly anticipating it too. When it finally came on, we were hooked! It seemed to get better and better each episode, which didn’t seem possible. The cliff-hanger at the very end would always leave you hanging wanting more straight away, with the week wait being painful. It became a weekly ritual for my Brother and I. We also added having a homemade burger with LA Cola (Ghetto Coke LOL) to the Prison Break ritual. After a few weeks, we found out Dad also liked the show, and then even more surprisingly, we found out Mum had been watching it every week too! I think she had a crush on Wentworth Miller, who plays Lincoln’s brother, Michael Scofield.
Eventually, I think towards the end of season 1, it morphed into a ritual with my girlfriend. Makes me feel bad thinking back now, however I did re-watch some with my brother, and he kept watching it himself, and we would discuss it each week. Of course it was awesome that they escaped right at the end of season 1, however I kind of didn’t want the build up to the escape to end yet. Season 2 was very different, as it was a constant man hunt. The show’s name was actually going to be changed to Man Hunt originally, for season 2. I did not enjoy season 2 as much, as I missed the prison life, its dynamics, atmosphere, and mainly seeing Michael’s brilliant plan slowly unfold.
I still enjoyed season 2 though, and was glad they decided to extend it to another season, providing it would not be another season of running, and offered and opportunity for another prison break scenario. My prayers were answered! At the end of season 2, Michael is locked up again, with a few other regulars, however this time it is Lincoln on the outside and a free man. To make things more intense, it is a prison in Panama, which meant totally new characters to interact with, new cultures, and the fact it is going to be a hell of a lot more harsh in there. I don’t think I am the only Prison Break fan happy that the series has come full circle, ready for it to live up to its name again! Which brings me onto my next post, which will be on the season 3’s premiere episode. But first, for those of you new to Prison Break, or would like to learn more, I will paste season 1 & 2’s plot summaries, and links for further information. Give the show a try, it is very entertaining, epic, with movie-like production values.
Season 1
Lincoln Burrows is accused of the murder of Terrence Steadman, who is the brother of the female Vice President of the United States. With strong evidence supporting the charges of first degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm against him, Lincoln is sentenced to death and is sent to the Fox River State Penitentiary to await his execution. Lincoln’s brother, Michael Scofield, is convinced of Lincoln’s innocence and hatches an escape plan. After installing himself at Fox River, time works against Michael as he must overcome various obstacles and make the right connections among the inmates and prison staff to be successful in breaking out his brother. The protagonists are aided by their lifelong friend Veronica Donovan, who begins to investigate the conspiracy that put Lincoln in jail. However, they are hindered by covert agents, who belong to an organization known as The Company.
Season 2
It begins eight hours after the prison escape from Fox River State Penitentiary, focusing mainly on the escapees. New characters are introduced, including federal agent Alexander Mahone, who is assigned to track down and capture the eight escapees. Series creator Paul Scheuring describes the second season as “The Fugitive times eight” and likens it to the “second half of The Great Escape”.[23] The fugitives journey to locations across America with the authorities close behind them as they each pursue their individual goals. The secondary plot involving the political conspiracy develops as The Company continues their plan to locate and eliminate Lincoln Burrows and others who get in their way. Though on the surface much of the storyline concerning the conspiracy concludes by the season finale, there are indications that both the role of The Company and that of Michael Scofield are far more complicated and interrelated than it appears.
