The Chaser’s War on Everything – 110 – Free Money Test

October 24, 2007 at 12:35 pm (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , )

You know those people on the street and outside of supermarkets etc who try hand you fliers, advertising their product or service?  I admit that I try to avoid them if possible, and making eye contact with them is a big mistake LOL.  The Chaser Team conducted a test to see if people would take notice when it was actual Money being handed out instead.

The Chaser’s War on Everything – 110 – Surprise Spruiker – Medibank Private

October 10, 2007 at 10:51 am (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , )

The Surprise Spruiker goes to an organisation and sets up his portable microphone system, and starts to “sell” their product or services to the public walking by.  This is the Chaser, so of course it is full of sarcasm and satire, regarding any issues they are having at the moment!  This time it is the Australian government owned health insurer, Medibank Private.  What the hell is a Spruiker? – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spruiker

The Chaser’s War on Everything – 110 – Supermodel Food Drop

October 3, 2007 at 1:01 pm (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , )

We all know that many supermodels are way too skinny, and just have a negative impact on women, creating ridiculous, imaginary standards on what the “normal” or “ideal” woman should look like.  Ok, not enough time to keep ranting!  The Chaser team decide to do something about it, and try help these walking skeletons with a charity food drop!

The Chaser’s War on Everything – 109 – What Have We Learned From Current Affairs This Week? – Insight & Cross Promotion

September 27, 2007 at 12:26 pm (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

In this regular segment, the Chaser team analyse Current Affairs programs, A Current Affair & Today Tonight.  It is from a satirical point of view of course, but it does make you think of how lame and tacky these programs can be, and seem to be more for cheap entertainment, rather than professional journalism.  This episode concentrates on how insightful they are, and the cross promotions they stealthily and obviously put into their shows.  Enjoy!

The Chaser’s War on Everything – Crazy Warehouse Guy – Asking For Directions

September 25, 2007 at 12:38 pm (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

This video refers to those annoying ads for warehouse clearances, that have a guy yelling, repeating, and generally being really annoying, talking about the sale and their supposed amazing deals. They are particularly based on the clearance sales held at the city convention center, with the voice over guy yelling fast and non-stop, and also the infamous rug sale guy who had a “closing down” sale every month. I don’t know how this guy could think people would continue to trust him, considering how many times he has supposedly closing down, it is ridiculous. It just doesn’t seem legal that he can keep false advertising like that on TV. Anyways, the video below, and similar ones I will post in the future, put the Crazy Warehouse Guy into other real life situations, where he will talk loud and crazy like in his ad. In this case, he is asking for directions. Enjoy!

The Chaser’s War on Everything – 109 – Public Divorce Methods

September 24, 2007 at 2:17 pm (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , )

You know how people think up unique, romantic, and public ways to propose to their loved one? Well this would be the opposite, as the topic here is divorce.  Don’t worry, I am pretty sure this is all set up and nobody actually got hurt!

The Chaser’s War on Everything – 109 – Sandra Sully Cricket Puns

September 23, 2007 at 9:29 am (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , , , , , , )

This next Chaser video is making fun of Sandra Sully, who hosts the Australia’s Brainiest series. It started out as Australia’s Brainiest Kid, then it expanded to celebrities like Australia’s Brainiest Comedian, Footballer, TV Star, and in this case, Cricketer. The whole point of this video though is, in each episode, when she reads off the auto-queue obviously, there are always really lame puns relating to the night’s theme. You need to be a cricketer or fan to understand a lot of these though, but rest assured they are ultra lame!

The Chaser’s War on Everything

September 23, 2007 at 8:07 am (Aussie, Australia, Comedy, TV) (, , , , , )

“Chaser”, or “The War” is my favourite Aussie TV show at the moment. It is a satirical comedy show, which as the title suggests, targets pretty much anything and everything! Nothing is sacred, religion, politics, celebrities, terrorism, and all current affairs. I love satire, and it is a much more intelligent comedy compared to others out there, but I do like other forms of comedy too of course. The Chaser team are hilarious and really go to extremes, risking arrest on a daily basis to make us laugh. I can see that some people could get offended by particular segments that might relate to them, but it is not meant to be taken seriously, and us Aussies like to have a laugh at both others and ourselves! I am going to start posting video clips from the show. If you are not from Australia, you may not understand some of the jokes, as they reference issues or people in Australia, but you should still get a laugh out of it. Well, take off your serious cap, and enjoy!
